my plants have not grown and i kind of not surprised because i am not a good at planting!i keep them in the kitchen but what i think that is affecting them is when my parents cook the plants take in the heat which keeps them from growing.i will continue to learn more on plants and to give you more specific details.

  1. Hello Vanessa,

I am sorry to hear that your plants are not growing. In that case, you should repeat the experiment again. I am sure that will not be hard for you. You might want to find another place to set it up. Just keep in mind that failure is part of science. It's good sometime when our experiments don't work because it allow us an opportunity to investigate the cause of our failure. You are a great scientist. Keep up the good work.

  2. Vanessa,

Are you using plants which have special needs with regards to sunlight, temperature, watering, or humidity?

If you think the kitchen is a problem, chances are you are right. Excess heat and humidity in the kitchen could be stressing your plants and encouraging fungal growth.

Also keep in mind your source of soil. If the soil is miracle-gro or another treated soil, adding additional nutrients could be bad for the plant.

Also beware of over watering. Soaking the soil and allowing excess water to drain is the best method for watering. After this do not water the plant again until the soil is absolutely dry. Check on the soil at least twice a day to prevent issues.

    Good Luck!

    1. Also, are you getting past the germination stage? Different seeds need different amounts of time to germinate, and heat along with moist soil are important. Are you able to capture the sunrise anywhere in your home? The heat should ideally come from the sun.
