How to make a compass

This is an inquiry-based hands-on project (project based science) we are currently working on to help students develop a deeper understanding of the properties of magnet and the magnetic field. They will develop deep understanding as to why the Earth is a giant magnet. They will understanding how to construct their own magnet using simple materials.
